An interior design consultation takes a minimum of three weeks. During this period, the design is tailored, developed, and delivered. The exact timeline depends on the selected package (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) and the number of functional spaces. Because the schedule is always carefully planned, it is not possible to select a specific start date yourself.

Only once the interior design consultation is ordered via the website or confirmed by email with payment of the invoice will the spot be officially reserved. Invoices are always issued in advance to guarantee your place in the schedule. To safeguard the quality of each design, MAKU Interior works on a select number of projects at a time. This means there is always a waiting period before a new consultation can begin.

What is meant by a “functional space”?
A functional space is a separate living or utility area within a home or project. Examples include: living room, kitchen, dining room/dining area, playroom, bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closet, office, hallway with toilet, landing, laundry room, gym, wellness area, cinema, garage, storage, or covered outdoor area.
It doesn’t matter whether these spaces are physically separated by a wall. If a space is exceptionally large, or if the layout of rooms may be altered, this can count as an additional functional space in the calculation.
The combination of living room, kitchen, and dining area is by default counted as three functional spaces, unless the total surface area is smaller than 40 m². Additional zones, such as a bay window or extra seating area, are always assessed in consultation and may be counted as an extra space. An attic is quoted on request, as it often combines multiple functions.

At the start, clients fill out a detailed digital intake form that maps out all living preferences. Based on this information, MAKU Interior creates the design. The client’s wishes are translated into a fitting plan, while the creative signature of MAKU Interior also has room to shine. How does the payment process work and how is the first available period reserved?
A consultation process is only definitively scheduled once the order has been placed via the website or confirmed by email and the invoice has been paid. MAKU.Interior always invoices in advance, ensuring that your spot is guaranteed in the planning. To maintain the highest quality, a limited number of projects are deliberately handled at the same time. This means that there is usually a waiting list before a new interior design consultation can begin.
What if there is a deadline and the agenda is fully booked?
Because MAKU.Interior works with a limited number of projects at the same time, it may happen that the schedule is already fully booked. Do you have a strict deadline? Then always mention this immediately in your request. We are happy to see if there is room within the existing planning, but we cannot guarantee anything. In some cases, it is possible to work with an accelerated schedule or discuss an urgent project — however, this may involve additional costs.

With this additional option, the client receives fully measured drawings of all custom-made furniture, a shopping list including a price list, a materials box, and access to special discounts on almost all furniture and materials.
The additional cost for this package is €1,499 including VAT per 100 m². If more than €10,000 is spent on self-selected materials and/or products for a realization package up to 100 m², the realization fee of €1,499 will be deducted.
The measured drawings and technical specifications are only prepared after approval and in collaboration with our interior builder. For a quote, an appointment with the interior builder must always be scheduled in Neerkant in advance to discuss all wishes. The realization of custom-made furniture depends on the location of the property and planning, and is arranged in consultation.
Is the budget taken into account?
Absolutely. The budget is one of the questions asked in the intake form. MAKU.Interior uses this budget as a guideline to create a suitable interior proposal. Based on it, decisions are made regarding the price range of the furniture, the amount of custom work applied, and whether, for example, wallpaper is suggested per meter or per roll. Providing an exact cost estimate beforehand is unfortunately not possible. After all, MAKU.Interior is a design studio, not an executing party. Material, labor, and finishing costs can vary significantly and change over time. A similar end result can often be achieved in different ways and also depends on the level of finishing and the final material choices. Whether the client chooses high-end materials or a more accessible alternative, the design by MAKU.Interior remains leading. Through smart choices in finishes and materials, a similar end result is possible within a range of budgets.
Is a discount given when multiple functional spaces are taken for interior advice?
There is a 7.5% discount on the 2nd and subsequent functional spaces, and a special 15% discount on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th functional spaces when taken simultaneously. These discounts are already included in the prices on the website. The rates are based on design time and quality and are the same for everyone.
What is the right time to engage interior design advice?
MAKU.Interior advises starting interior design as early as possible in the process, preferably even before construction or renovation begins. At this stage, crucial decisions can be made regarding layout, lighting points, and material choices. This forms the foundation for an interior that is coherent down to the smallest detail.
An interior plan also serves as a guiding thread throughout the entire construction or renovation process. It provides clarity, direction, and peace of mind—not just for the client, but also for all parties involved, such as contractors, installers, and other professionals. Is lighting included in the interior design packages?
Basic lighting is included in the Silver and Gold interior design packages from MAKU.Interior. Lighting is essential for creating a realistic and atmospheric overall impression in 3D. Without it, the design would literally and figuratively feel flat. That’s why we always incorporate some form of basic lighting, bringing the entire design to life.
Note: this is not the same as a lighting plan. A lighting plan specifies the exact positions of light points on a 2D floor plan and considers the amount and intensity of light per space.
The difference? Basic lighting in our designs provides atmosphere and realism in the 3D visuals. A lighting plan, on the other hand, is technical and functional, intended for execution. Both can complement each other perfectly, depending on the client’s needs and the project phase.
What is the added value of a lighting plan?
