Lighting Advice

Lighting not only determines what you see, but also how you experience your interior and/or garden. Light highlights shapes, materials, and colors, setting the mood and overall ambiance. A well-thought-out lighting plan ensures that your interior and/or garden doesn’t just look beautiful—it truly comes to life.

Whether it’s subtle ambient lighting, stylish accent lights, or functional spots, every fixture and placement is carefully considered. With a clear lighting plan, you can see early on how atmosphere and functionality work together.

A lighting plan can be added optionally to an interior or garden design. Since the design of the space serves as the foundation, a lighting plan is not offered as a standalone service.

Light Plan & Interior

A good lighting plan always starts with a well-thought-out interior design. That’s why at MAKU.Interior, a lighting plan can be optionally added to the Bronze, Silver, and Gold interior packages—it is not available as a standalone service. A proper lighting plan requires a finalized layout of the space. Think of the placement of the sofa, dining table, or walkways: lighting must be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Based on a definitive 2D layout, the light points are determined and aligned.

In the Silver and Gold interior packages, basic lighting is included in 3D. This creates atmosphere and depth in the 3D designs: lights are visually incorporated so the design feels realistic. However, this ambient lighting is not the same as a technical lighting plan.

A lighting plan takes it a step further:
– Exact positions of light points are aligned
– Positions of light points are dimensioned on the 2D floor plan
– The right fixtures are determined for each zone
– The quantity and intensity of light per room are specified

A lighting plan is therefore an important part of the execution phase and provides a functional extension of the visual design. Only by designing interior and lighting together can a space achieve true balance, both in style and usability.

With a garden design that includes a lighting plan, it becomes visible how the garden comes to life in the evening, allowing for a well-considered selection of spotlights, wall lights, and other outdoor fixtures.

With a Silver or Gold package, realistic 3D visuals are provided to give an impression of the interior, including lighting suggestions. A lighting plan goes a step further: it specifies the exact positions, types of fixtures, and the amount of light. While the 3D visuals show the ambiance, the lighting plan provides a concrete, actionable technical foundation.

The lighting plan is only created once the interior or garden design has been fully completed and approved, including the layout and functions of the spaces. Only when the design is finalized can the lighting plan be developed in a tailored way.

Zeker. Als er wensen zijn voor slimme verlichting, wordt daar in het lichtplan rekening mee gehouden. Absolutely. If there are preferences for smart lighting, these will be taken into account in the lighting plan.

For an interior consultation, a clear overview of all proposed lighting is provided, including the type of fixtures that suit the atmosphere and design. For a garden consultation, advice is given on the type of outdoor lighting that is suitable—such as ground spots, standing fixtures, or wall lamps but without specific model numbers. This ensures the advice remains flexible and tailored to both ambiance and functionality, while for interior projects, the selection is developed in much greater detail.
